What should I wear and bring to an Aufguss session?

Wear a swimsuit. We provide towels to sit on inside the sauna. Bring flip-flops or sandals for walking around the club, a hair tie if you have long hair, and a water bottle you can refill. Skip heavy lotions, perfumes, and makeup as they can interfere with your skin's ability to sweat and can react to the heat.If it's your first Aufguss, come a few minutes early and let a guide know at check-in. We'll walk you through what to expect and help you get settled.

Is Aufguss safe for beginners and first-time sauna users?

Yes. Aufguss ceremonies at Elemental are welcoming to first-timers, and our sauna masters guide every session with a mixed group in mind. No prior sauna experience is required.That said, Aufguss is more intense than a passive sauna sit. The towel work is designed to move heat, so the perceived temperature climbs significantly during each round. You're always in control of your experience. You can sit on a lower bench where the air is cooler, breathe steadily, or step out at any time.If you're pregnant, have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or any medical concern about heat exposure, please check with your doctor before joining. When in doubt, come, take a lower seat, and let your body set the pace.

Do I need to be a member to attend an Aufguss ritual at Elemental.

No. Aufguss ceremonies at Elemental are open to both members and non-members, and anyone in the Cleveland area can join by registering through our events calendar.Aufguss experiences are included with Elemental Wellness Club Membership. Non-members are welcome to attend any ceremony for $55 per session.If you're new to Elemental, an Aufguss is one of the most memorable ways to experience the club for the first time. It's a full introduction to what we do — authentic Finnish sauna, ritual, community, and intention — in a single evening. We can't wait to welcome you.
